We have created this website so that
people can follow Michael's progress
through diagnosis and treatment of
cancer.  I will try to update it as soon as
possible so that all can find out what is
going on and what we need prayer for.
We really appreciate all your caring
words and thoughts.

Update:  On June 2nd, we received news that the initial diagnosis was incorrect.
Instead, Michael has a rare, harder to treat cancer called Sarcoma.  You can read
more about it in
Week 2.

On May 25th, Michael was diagnosed with testicular cancer.  Michael's cancer moved from the testicle
region up into his body cavity.  It formed a large tumor in that area.  The tumor is putting pressure on his
kidney and making it not work correctly.  It has also pushed all of his organs into the right side of his body
cavity.  The pressure is making it hard for him to eat very much.  There are also some lesions on his lungs
and liver.  These appear to be small.    The Dr. feels  that a very aggressive treatment is in order here.  He
will need  to have chemotherapy and surgery.  Dr. Yamaguchi is Michael's urologist.  He seems very
passionate and concerned with making sure he does the right thing with Michael's treatments.  He is
going to spend the 26th consulting with other Dr.s.  He said that he himself had never seen a tumor be
this aggressive and complicated.    The tumor in the testicle is about 22 cm.s and the one in the body
cavity goes from the groin area up to the area where the heart is located and basically fills the left half of
the body cavity.    Michael is scared of course, but has a very optimistic outlook.  He has had a lot of his
friends come to visit and would like to have them come anytime.  He is looking forward to graduation on
the 15th of June.  He is concerned about not having hair for the ceremony and people treating him
different.
