June 14 7:20 am Yesterday, MIchael had a Dr. appointment with the oncologist, Dr. Pan. Michael weighed 143 pounds
yesterday. Dr. Pan said that if the tumor is shrinking. part of the weight loss could be from the tumor because tumors are very
heavy. Michael walked the whole time he was at the hospital. He was pretty worn out. We had to get his dressing changed on
the picc line and then the dressing changed on the tube in his kidney. Unfortunately, they are all done in different places.
Grandma and Grandpa came last night. Michael wasn't really awake when they first got here and didn't talk much to them.
Later though, he was more talkative and got them to watch some wrestling with him.
I am going out to find a wheel chair to rent today to see if that will help with graduation and just getting him up and out of the
house. He needs to try to get his muscles working instead of just laying in bed. He is so weak though that he prefers to just lay
in bed.
June 15 8:00 am Last night, I said to Michael that I didn't know how he was going to do this because he wasn't even sitting up.
I went back in the bedroom about an hour later and he was sitting up in bed. He said, "I'm going to do it. I read Lisa's letter." I
hadn't read it in the guest book yet. I asked him what it said. He said that if he didn't do it the devil was winning and that isn't
going to happen. I came out to the living room to tell Chris. A little later, Chris went in to see how he was doing and he was up
sitting in a chair! He said he wants to do it!
Yesterday, he had several friends with him all day. He ate better yesterday and id doing great at drinking the fluids. We will
take lots of pictures tonight and I will post them on here as soon as possible for all to see. The graduation isn't until 6:30 tonight
and then afterwards we are having a little party for Nathan's birthday. So, it will probably too late for me to get them on tonight,
so check tomorrow!
June 16th HE DID IT! I got some good pictures. Click on the GRADUATION link above to see the pictures. They dedicated
the entire evening to Michael. They had him stand up and told him the whole school and staff was behind him. He wasn't sure
about going the whole day, but once we got him there, he did great! They put him up on the stage and got him situated. The
school provided someone to be with Michael the whole time. He had so many people come to see the ceremony. I want to
especially thank all of those people and the staff and student of Mtn. View High. Everyone went out of their way to make
Michael feel loved and welcome and proud of his accomplishments! Thank you so much.
After the ceremony, we came home to have a graduation party and a birthday party for Nathan. Michael sat up in a chair with
us until everyone went home. He did so good! He said he had a good time.
June 17th Today is grandpa Whiteley's birthday. A bunch of guys are coming over to play a friendly game of poker tonight.
Grandma Whiteley and I have a "date" with Michael. He enjoys wresting and had taped a pay per view the other night. He
wants us to watch it with him. He has been up walking more today than any other day.
June 18th Michael was pretty lazy today. He could get up, but choose to hang out in bed. He has started loosing quite a bit of
his hair and I think that he is a bit depressed over it. When I changed his sheets today, they were covered. He is eating much
better though. He asked for something at Jack-in-the Box. He's been watching a lot of movies. He used some of his graduation
money yesterday when he asked to go to Target. We all went and took his new wheelchair. We pushed him all over Target and
he loaded up a cart with games, cd's and movies. He spent about an hour in Target yesterday. I was glad he wanted to go and
was happy to take him.
