Week 13- 8/16-22
Aug 21 8:15 pm  I haven't updated for a couple of days....sorry...Grandma and Grandpa Whiteley were here
visiting and we were having such a nice time with them, I didn't write.  Michael has been doing well.  He goes in for
some blood work in the morning.  Still eating great...Always on him about the amount of fluids he drinks.  My mom
made him tacos for dinner last night and he really enjoyed that.  Chris and I went to a concert last night and
grandma and grandpa stayed with the kids.  Michael had some friends over as well.  Nathan is back.  He is talking
like crazy.  He always does I guess...but after being gone almost 5 weeks, it was so quiet here!  School starts for
him on Tuesday and for Taylor on Wednesday.  Taylor is starting high school this year and Michael has been
giving him advise so that he knows how to avoid the freshman pranks...etc...(I think Michael is just trying to torment
him and scare him.)  He's aunry that way...

Aug 16th 10 PM   Michael got home this morning.  He is feeling great.  A little bit nauseas once in awhile, but eating and
drinking good.  He's actually worried that he isn't sick..  He's afraid the chemo isn't working if he isn't sick.  We tried to explain
to him that he may have had such a hard time the first 3 rounds because his red blood cell count was so low he was probably
anemic for awhile.  Also, he is taking prescription Pepcid now and he wasn't doing that before.  He was having some chest
discomfort and the doctor figured out he was having acid reflux.  That is now under control.  Also, he may have been having
trouble with infection for awhile and didn't realize it.  Now that he's been on such strong antibiotics and the blood
transfusions, he is at the best health he's been since he was diagnosed with the cancer.  Also, as I said yesterday, I really
believe the prayers are working.  All of the knowledge of the Dr,'s and the medicines and the prayers are just coming
together.  I do believe he will be well...but we have to go through the process to get to the other end.  I have a feeling that
this is a turning point...that he's doing well.  I'm happy with how he is doing.  I hope he will keep up the eating and drinking.
He's got a great attitude right now...lots of joking and laughing with us and lots of teasing me.  And believe me...I'm happy to
take it from him.

Aug 17th 11:45 PM  Michael had another great day today.  We all slept in this morning, which was a real treat.  I think I
needed after having slept (or not slept) in a chair for 5 nights at the hospital.  I left to do a little work and when I came home,
Peter was over visiting Michael...The next think I know...all day long...friends were coming and going.  He probably had 10
different people here today and at many times, 4-5 at a time in his room.  In the afternoon, one of his friends bought him a
game cube and a game.  They spent hours playing it together.  He is feeling good...hasn't needed any of the nausea meds
today at all.  It's incredible to me the difference this time.

I want to be sure everyone that checks the site knows we really appreciate the people who are checking, praying and signing
the guestbook.  Angela...we are glad you did sign...we like knowing people are praying.  It's comforting.  Chris is in playing
the video game with Michael now and Taylor and I are watching some cartoon on a cable channel.  I think I am going to give
up and go to bed.  It's been a long day for me as I am finishing up the list of people that have agreed to put their ponds on
our Moonlight Pond Tour.  We are up to about 25 sites now!  I have been sending press releases like crazy.  We hope
someone will pick up the story in a paper in order to get more ticket sales to benefit our charity.  We just really feel that is our
way of fighting this horrible disease that has so drastically changed our family!  It's become a real passion to raise funds to
cure this cancer.

Here is a picture I took right before he came home from the hospital this time.
